Amplitude brings Guides and Surveys to mobile: onboard and collect feedback without annoying pop-ups
Amplitude’s Guides and Surveys now supports iOS, Android, and React Native, and the important bit is the operating model: use behavioral data to trigger contextual onboarding and feedback at the right moments, then measure impact beyond clicks.

Summary
Amplitude’s announcement is straightforward: Guides and Surveys now supports iOS, Android, and React Native. The useful part for app marketers is the framing: mobile engagement should feel like help, not interruption.
The pattern they’re pushing:
- use behavioral analytics to spot where users get stuck,
- trigger contextual guides that appear in the flow (not as random overlays),
- collect feedback when it’s actionable (after success, before churn moments), and
- measure impact on outcomes (activation, retention), not only “clicked the tooltip”.
What to steal (even if you don’t use Amplitude)
-
Onboarding should branch by behavior A single “welcome tour” is usually a tax. Build two to three paths based on what the user actually does in their first session.
-
Announce features only to likely beneficiaries If a feature announcement is relevant to 20% of users, show it to 20% of users. The rest just learns to ignore you.
-
Feedback timing is half the value The best surveys are triggered by moments (completed task, repeated error, stalled step), not by dates on a calendar.
Tiny win
Pick one funnel step with obvious hesitation (signup, permissions, first “create”, first “share”, first “paywall”) and ship one in-flow guide with one rule:
- it must trigger based on a behavior you can measure,
- and it must have a single success metric (activation event completion rate).
