Korea App Store age ratings update: GRAC overrides now, two descriptors shift to 12+ in Oct 2026
A credited summary of Apple’s Aug 12, 2026 update to Korea App Store age ratings: you can now override with a GRAC Rating Classification Number, and two content descriptors will move from All to 12+ starting October.
Apple published a small-but-practical update for apps distributed on the App Store in the Republic of Korea.

The one-line lesson
Treat age ratings as a release-cadence risk: if Korea matters to you, decide whether you’ll use GRAC overrides, and sanity-check your descriptors before October.
What’s changing (plain English)
1) Effective immediately: GRAC can override your App Store Korea age rating
If your app has an official rating from Korea’s Game Rating and Administration Committee (GRAC), you can now override your existing Korea age rating to one of the region-specific values:
- All
- 12+
- 15+
- 19+
How: provide your GRAC Rating Classification Number (RCN) with your next version submission.

2) Starting October 2026: two descriptors move from “All” to “12+” in Korea
Apple says these content descriptors will shift from All to 12+ in Korea:
- Infrequent profanity and crude humor
- Infrequent mature or suggestive themes
Why this matters (for growth teams)
- Conversion impact: age rating changes can affect who can download (and how parents perceive you).
- Release operations: if you get surprised during review, you lose release momentum (and the marketing calendar suffers).
- Support: age gating and store messaging changes often create “why can’t I download/update?” tickets.
Tiny win (20 minutes)
Add a Korea-specific checklist line for your next release:
- Do we have a GRAC RCN (and do we want to use it)?
- Do any in-app surfaces trigger the two “now 12+” descriptors?
- Who owns the App Store Connect questionnaire answers (so you don’t debate it mid-submission)?
